Praise God for QUT Classifieds! Despite my 'busy' schedule at work few days ago, I managed to read the following email notice from a very kind staff who is obviously pretty 'free' at work:
LAUDISTON VALUERS & AUCTIONERS
Laudiston Valuers and Auctioneers will be conducting a huge three-day sale of the complete contents of Abbey Brides, in store at Level 2, 60 Queen Street, Friday, Oct 31, from
9am to 8pm; Saturday, Nov 1 and Sunday, Nov 2, 9am to 4pm. There will be huge savings of 50 per cent off marked prices on bridal and formal wear. No lay-bys.
Without further adure, I quickly sent out the invites to him. Without much delay he agreed to go with me on that weekend. Though there was really much doubt in mind that I was going to be able to get any bargained dress given my petite frame and the so-called 'sales' from an Australian bridal shop (yes! I don't believe in Aussie sale - it is never really cheap at all!). I have also forwarded the 'good news' to a few of my brides-to-be friends.
On Saturday, we did manage to try on a few seemingly attractive bridal gowns. Yet as expected, they did not look good on me. A bit too big still though I have picked only th size 5. Funny enough was the lady tried to push in a few big thick cup sponges into my gown, which gave me a horrible look, as he agreed too. haha. but it was fun trying out the gowns, with the help of a very friendly staff.
I met my friend there who was managed to get a simple-styled wedding gown for a price as cheap as $500! What a bargain! and it did take her hubby-to-be's breadth away...what a good deal!
That day, I realised 2 things: (1) it's not exactly as a drama shows that any gown on a bride-to-be's body can take her groom-to-be's breadth away (at least my attempt was not successful); (2) for any lady with a petite frame, you better think of getting your gown from any bridal shop in Malaysia or any Asian countries, which can ensure you that they will fit well (prayerfully >_<) with an affordable price (if you hire, of course!)
